About Rusanda
Rusanda Panfili is a Moldovan born violinist, composer and arranger based in Austria. With remarkable musical talent that surfaced as early as two years old, Rusanda's musical journey commenced when she sang a Japanese song she memorized from watching television. Taking note of her natural propensity towards music, her parents fostered her musical education. This keen support and encouragement set Rusanda on the path of musical training and subsequent excellence.
At six, Rusanda embarked on her formal training in the art of violin. This early venture into the world of violin playing marked the beginning of a life-long pursuit of musical excellence in her chosen field. With her extraordinary talent, her musical journey progressed rapidly. At just 11, she found herself in the hallowed halls of one of Vienna's most esteemed music universities, recognized as one of their most promising young talents.
Rusanda's passion for various musical genres has honed her into a refined, virtuosic, yet sensitive instrumentalist. Non-discriminatory in her adoration for different kinds of music, her repertoire is an enviable array of diverse works. She immaculately performs violin concertos like those of Shostakovich and Sibelius, an extensive variety of chamber music, and an array of soundtracks by legendary composers such as Morricone, Williams, Zimmer, and Desplat. This versatility showcases her prowess as a musician, proving her an artist with expansive breadth and depth in her craft.
As an award-winning classical violinist, Rusanda has graced the stages worldwide with internationally known orchestras and conductors. She has received scholarships, and collaborated with distinguished artists such as the Academy Award-winning composer Hans Zimmer, famed tenor Andrea Bocelli, Lisa Gerard, and renowned composer Gavin Greenaway. Rusanda's love for folk music inspired the creation of her personal project, 'Panfili&Friends,' where she amalgamated her love for classical and folk music. Her first album under this venture served as a testament to her innovative spirit and creativity in producing music that transcends boundaries.
2020 marked Rusanda's debut as a composer, with the release of her album 'Andara1980.' In an extraordinary display of creativity during challenging times, this soundtrack served as the backdrop to her self-written sci-fi novel, penned during the global pandemic. Rusanda is always on the look-out for opportunities to innovate and create. She explores novel ways of making music and has built her own recording and production studio.
In addition to becoming a multi-instrumentalist, Rusanda has delved into the realm of collecting international string instruments and synthesizers, further showcasing her broad commitment to the world of music.
For the past six years, Rusanda has had the distinguished privilege of playing on a rare and precious violin, dating back to 1610, and crafted by G.P. Maggini. This instrument was generously lent to her by a private foundation, enabling her performances with this remarkable and extraordinary violin.
Well into the future, Rusanda plans to continue her musical journey by crafting the soundtrack for an upcoming Austrian movie. She is also anticipated to release several collaborative singles along with an album dedicated to the works of Astor Piazzolla, featuring her unique arrangements for solo violin and string orchestra. Her fans can expect to see more of her as she continues to perform as a soloist on esteemed tours like 'The World of Hans Zimmer,' 'Hans Zimmer Live,' and 'Andrea Bocelli Live.'
